Queens Lacrosse started in 2016 with a simple dream to have females be offered the same opportunities as their male counterparts in the sport of lacrosse. Queens Lacrosse began with a one-off female only floor time in 2016. This was followed in 2017 with the first ever female only development camp in Saskatchewan. Queens Lacrosse offered 10 free development sessions to females of all ages and of all skill levels. After a year of planning, Queens Lacrosse entered the first female only lacrosse team in 2019 into the QCMBL novice division. Queens Lacrosse continues to offer female only development camps and will continue to enter female only lacrosse teams into the QCMBL.
What is Lacrosse?Box Lacrosse is an indoor version of lacrosse and is Canada's National Summer Sport. Box lacrosse is played between two teams of five players and one goalie each and is traditionally played on an ice hockey rink with the ice removed. The playing area is called a box. The object of the game is to use a lacrosse stick to catch, carry, and pass the ball in an effort to score by shooting a solid rubber ball into the opponent's net.
Box lacrosse combines together numerous skills and strategies from other sports like the running in soccer, team play of basketball, passing, shooting, and contact of hockey. Box lacrosse is the perfect off season sport to develop well-rounded athletes. Box lacrosse provides exceptional conditioning, hand-eye coordination, and is fun to play. |
